    POSITION DETAILS

    Per diem, not benefited; 9 hours minimum, one shift, per month. 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday while the clinic is open; no holidays and weekends at this point but may change in the future based on the needs of the department.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The LPN/MA, under the supervision of the clinic director, physician or associate provider, and in accordance with Hospital policies provides health care services to patients; assists with various procedures; assures that patients flow smoothly and efficiently through the clinic on a daily basis; and adheres to the provider’s direction for scheduling tests, collecting specimens and completion of paperwork.

    MAJOR JOB FUNCTION

    + Reviews schedules and ensures timely flow of patients through the clinic. score: N/A

    + Greets and rooms patients and prepares them for their examination based on the provider’s request by collecting vital signs, other medical screenings and updating the electronic health record with the history, medications and any discrepancies. score: N/A

    + Uses the electronic medical record efficiently. Completes follow up phone calls to patients utilizing the electronic health record for documentation.

    + Assists provider during examination of patient, procedures and in performing and documenting any testing or procedures ordered during the visit.

    + Administers and documents treatments as ordered by the provider.

    + Reviews and relays clinic performed lab results to providers for follow-up care.

    + Gathers and documents information in the EHR during phone interactions and advises patients per provider direction, documenting the communication in the EHR.

    + Orders, receives, and stocks supplies. Maintains clean, stocked and orderly exam rooms and neat and organized work areas.

    + Maintains patient confidentiality and medical record confidentiality.

    + Ensures pre-op labs, consents, H&P's, and referrals are channeled to the proper areas.

    + Maintains paperwork for occupational health patients, ensures timely documentation and transfer of information utilizing many different systems – such as faxing, online repositories, etc.

    + Attends required meetings, trainings or in-services as needed and maintains competencies in all areas as required.

    + Performs drug and alcohol screenings as needed. Must obtain and maintain relevant certifications.

    + Performs all other duties as assigned within scope of practice.

    + Performs audiograms in the clinic and on site for area businesses.

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    + High school graduate or equivalent.

    + Current certification or eligibility to become BLS certified.

    + Must have one of the following:

    + Current medical assistant certification or eligibility to obtain certification

    + Current licensure to permit practice as a licensed practical nurse in the state of Wisconsin.

    + Current certification as an Occupational Hearing Conservationist or eligibility to become certified

    + Prior clinic experience preferred.

    QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    + Excellent human relation skills as demonstrated by the ability to interface positively with all customers and employees.

    + Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions, under stress, with minimal supervision, and to exercise initiative and judgment in analyzing, organizing, planning, prioritizing, scheduling and coordinating work with others.

    + Needs to possess as high level of intelligence, integrity, sense of responsibility and ability to comprehend and analyze details.

    + Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for infant through geriatric patients.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    + Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, and talk and hear.

    + Frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch, and smell.

    + Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Must understand and accept the possibility of exposure to inside environmental conditions, such as infectious/communicable diseases, noise, blood and bloodborne diseases, chemicals and/or chemical fumes, odors, gases, dusts, and physical injury/verbal abuse from an out-of-control patient. Frequent exposure to distressed patients, families or visitors. Must be able to function effectively under stressful situations.
