Job description
SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE
Performs maintenance, repair or overhaul of gas turbine engines, gas turbine starting systems, and turbojet engines to include sub-assemblies and components. Performs assembly and testing of turbojet engines. Supervises 2nd shift and trains shop technicians, schedules workflow through shop in coordination with Operations Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Works with hand tools and cleaning chemicals in order to disassemble equipment for inspection purposes.
• Works with the component maintenance manual and internal documentation to accept or reject individual components in an engine.
• Works with hand tools, special tools, measuring equipment, balancing and grinding machines in order to assemble customer equipment.
• Coordinates with Safran Power Units office personnel in order to establish priority for shop projects and a weekly production schedule.
• Trains and assists Technicians in proper procedures, methods and practices to be followed in each respective duty.
• Schedules work tasks for technicians in order to ensure weekly production goals are met.
• Travel required – 0-5%, including internationally.
• Develops procedures, identifies problems, and recommends solutions to fulfill project objectives; recommends expenditures.
• Assigns and monitors work of subordinates, including training and coaching; conducting of ongoing performance planning and appraisal; and recommending actions.
SCOPE AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Helps develop procedures, identifies problems, and recommends solutions to fulfill project objectives. Has authority to act at his/her own discretion, with short-term review or audit by the Operations Manager.
• Helps assign and monitor work of team, including training and coaching, conducting of ongoing performance planning and appraisal; and recommending actions.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Education/Knowledge/Skills and Abilities
• Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 5+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Leadership/management experience
• A&P Certification a plus.
• Intermediate Level – Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• SAP experience is a plus.
• Mechanical/technical/interpersonal skills that can be applied immediately to the job duties and that are adapted to the unique requirements of the organization.
