    Description

    OVERVIEW:

    + The Director of Support Services is responsible for driving high-impact initiatives that enhance patient outcomes, optimize resource utilization, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across Emory Healthcare.

    + This role ensures the strategic direction, operational excellence, and financial performance of support services within the hospital and outpatient healthcare settings.

    + The Director collaborates closely with executive leadership to establish a vision for operational excellence, aligning strategic goals with Emory Healthcare's mission of delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

    + By spearheading cross-functional projects, developing integrated solutions, and supporting a culture of belonging, this leader's impact extends system-wide, improving patient experience, supporting innovation, and sustaining best practices for long-term organizational success.

    Primary duties and responsibilities:

    + Strategic Leadership & Impact:

    + 1. Drive high-impact initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, optimize resource utilization, and nurture a culture of continuous improvement throughout Emory Healthcare.

    + 2. Collaborate with executive leadership to establish and communicate a clear vision for operational excellence, aligning all objectives with the organization's overall mission and values.

    + 3. Identify, develop, and implement innovative partnerships to direct impact the patient's journey.

    + 4. Analyze performance data, present strategic recommendations, and communicate project outcomes and impact reports to senior leadership, linking service performance to broader organizational goals.

    + Operational Excellence and Financial Acumen:

    + 1. Manage operational budgets, admissions, discharges, patient experience metrics, and other key organizational outcomes for assigned service lines.

    + 2. Lead and oversee hospital-wide process improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing patient flow, enhancing patient safety, and ensuring measurable improvements in service quality and operational performance.

    + 3. Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide actionable insights, sustain change, and ensure the long-term impact of all initiatives.

    + 4. Ensure compliance with high standards of quality and relevant certifications, supporting the recognition of programs as integral components of the clinical care continuum.

    + Team Leadership and Change Management:

    + 1. Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, fostering accountability, innovation, professional growth, and a culture of collaboration where all members feel included and empowered to learn.

    + 2. Drive a culture of continuous improvement by training, coaching, and mentoring staff across Emory Healthcare, equipping teams with operational excellence tools and supporting the sustainment of new practices.

    + 3. Facilitate change management processes to promote employee engagement, adaptability, and adopt hospital-wide improvement initiatives.

    + Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication:

    + 1. Partner across clinical, administrative, and operational domains to identify opportunities for collaboration that drive efficiency, enhance the patient journey, and improve outcomes.

    + 2. Serve as a key liaison, maintaining open communication with all stakeholders and ensuring seamless integration of services and initiatives throughout Emory Healthcare.

    + 3. Manage high-priority hospital-wide projects, demonstrating adaptability, innovation, and the consistent delivery of measurable results with broad organizational impact.

     

    Travel: Less than 10% of the time may be required. Work Type: On Site

    Minimum Required Qualifications:

    + Education - Bachelor's degree

    + Experience - minimum of 5 years' experience in a healthcare system, with 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience

    + Certification - Current CPR/AED

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Education:Master's degree (MBA, MHA) highly preferred.

    + Experience: 7+ years of leadership experience within a healthcare system, demonstrating success in business development, complex program implementation, and driving significant improvements in operational and patient outcomes.

    + Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required): This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and the following

    + skills: - Leadership & Influence: Expertise in leading and mentoring teams, inspiring organizational change, and building consensus among diverse stakeholders.

    + Operational & Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of the financial and operational drivers within healthcare, with a focus on efficiency and cost-effective practices.

    + Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work across departments and professional domains, driving innovative solutions and fostering accountability.

    + Analytical & Data-Driven: Fluent in data analysis, performance measurement, and translating complex data into clear, actionable plans that yield measurable outcomes.

    + Change Management: Skilled in facilitating meaningful change, promoting engagement, and sustaining improved practices organization-wide.

    + Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication, with experience presenting complex concepts and impact reports to senior leaders.

    + Adaptability: Resilient, flexible, and capable of navigating competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to quickly adopt new technologies.
