Description:
In Leadership:
Provide education and training
Integrate best practice relative to specialty
Execute consistent meetings
Ensure accountability for staff performance relative to specialty
Engage with leadership team frequently
In Knowledge:
Have working knowledge of all equipment utilized in the application of respiratory services
Keep current with best practice and latest technology and application for RT care with specific focus on
medication nebulization, airway clearance therapy, chronic RT care management needs, trach care and
safety.
Understand proper care planning and discharge planning.
Understand the process of competency assessment
In Performance:
Monitor value-based care by assessing patient needs and reconciling therapy with indications
Work with case managers and lead nurses to anticipate discharges and prepare patients for transition
with RT needs
Promote and control Home O2 eval orders and execution to attain timely discharge
Round with provider teams to help set care plans and drive outcomes.
Assure that required staff competencies are completed
Be a preceptor and assure the training of new therapists in the modality use
Promote all RT’s to engage with providers to communicate patient care needs
Drive protocols through best practice literature
Offer hands on workshop annually on Airway humidification, NIV, OSA and Cpap use, and Trach care
and maintenance
Work with nursing educators to provide continuous staff education to enhance interdepartmental
relations to ensure quality patient care.
Meet regularly with RT leadership team to discuss issues relative to modalities, and RT practice.
Identify KPI’s to drive best practice culture, collect and submit monthly data
This is a day shift position, 7a-7p.

What a Respiratory Therapist Will Need:
+ High school diploma or equivalent is required.
+ Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program required.
+ Work experience in all aspects of respiratory care preferred.
+ Competency in blood gas analysis, Spirometry.
+ Bronchoscopy assistance a plus.
+ Registration by the NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred.
LICENSURE:
+ Current State of Florida License as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the Departmentof Health.
+ BLS and ACLS certification required. PALS for ED coverage
