Purpose
The Patient Care Technician (uncertified, certified, unlicensed, or licensed) provides safe, quality health care services & / or assistance to patients under the supervision & direction of a registered nurse or other designated health care professional in accordance with level of experience, education, policies & procedures.
_Note: “patients” refers to patients, clients, residents, participants, customer_ _s, members_

**Maintains a working knowledge** of applicable federal, state & local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of Conduct, as well as other policies, procedures & guidelines in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical & professional behavior & safe work practices.
Functional Role (not inclusive of titles or advancement career progression)
NS II – assistive **:** Unlicensed / noncertified assistive role (direct or indirect); Entry level position; Trained to function in an assistive role to the licensed nurse or other colleagues by performing patient care Activities of Daily Living (ADL) as delegated by the nurse; Participates in continuous surveillance, rounding or monitoring for safety; Offer compassion & patience as an essential member of the healthcare team (e.g., answering call lights, patient encouragement / greeting, stock / retrieve supplies or equipment, room turnover, mobilize patients, repositioning, transporting, discharge coordination).
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in high school, in process of completing a GED, or has obtained high school diploma or GED; Meets requirements for applicable state(s) of engagement. Valid driver’s license where required by assignment.
