Process Engineer
Job Description
The Process & Project Safety Engineer plays a pivotal role in leading and supporting the site's Process Safety Risk Management (PSRM) strategies. The individual will focus on troubleshooting and driving corrective actions to prevent common areas of Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC) and executing various process safety actions derived from hazard studies and incident investigations.
Responsibilities
+ Lead incident investigations for process safety events, LOPC incidents, and near-miss events, ensuring thorough root cause analysis is conducted and sustainable corrective actions are identified and implemented.
+ Develop and execute projects to eliminate safety gaps identified by the site during hazard studies, incidents, near misses, and learning events, leading the project from development of the project scope and business case through to commissioning.
+ Drive Management of Change records for any changes made to the site during corrective action implementation.
+ Coordinate with local vendors to source equipment and materials required for PSRM corrective actions.
+ Collaborate with site departments such as Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to schedule and execute project installations.
+ Update and develop process safety-related documentation, including P&IDs, PFDs, and Basis of Safety Documentation for changes carried out.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
+ Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment.
+ Experience managing projects from ideation through to commissioning.
+ Ability to manage contractors and authorize permits to work to mitigate risk.
+ Knowledge of process safety management as defined by 29 CFR Part 1910.119 OSHA PSM.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience leading investigations and establishing incident root causes.
Work Environment
The work environment is a 50/50 split between the plant floor and desk work, with conditions not climate-controlled.

This is a Contract position based out of Savannah, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
