Job Title: Chemist
Job Description
The ICP Chemist is responsible for producing accurate and timely analysis of specified samples using defined methods and procedures. This role supports the company's sales, material management, and production efforts.
Responsibilities
+ Perform analyses according to assigned written procedures and manage several concurrent analyses, striving to exceed accuracy and performance measures.
+ Examine sample quality and labeling, reporting any deviations to the Manager and suggesting a course of action.
+ Prepare and review assays in specified form for managerial approval.
+ Review equipment calibration status and make corrections as needed.
+ Review laboratory data for completeness and accuracy.
+ Perform and support method development activities.
+ Participate in shift changes, communicating the status of all analyses and needed work.
+ Participate in and assist with generating methods, equipment, quality, procedure, and other training as provided by the laboratory.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field with at least 1 year of experience.
+ Alternatively, a 2-year degree in a scientific field with 2+ years of experience.
+ Experience in wet chemical analysis and precious metals analysis.
+ Proficiency in general preparation and instrumental methods such as ICP, ICP-MS, Acid/Base Titrations, and XRF.
+ Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with all levels of the organization.
+ Understanding of concepts involving statistics, probabilities, and formula manipulation.
+ Ability to perform basic calculations on volume, mass, atomic percentages, weight percentages, density, molecular weight of alloys and compounds, and charge weights.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field preferred.
Work Environment
The position is based in an on-site, temperature-regulated laboratory/manufacturing environment. The role requires occasional standing, walking, sitting, and the use of hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, as well as reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and possess specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work hours include either 2nd shift from 2 pm to 12:30 am or 3rd shift from 10 pm to 8:30 am.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wartburg, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $36.05/hr.
