Medical Assistant
Job Description
The Medical Assistant will manage 18-22 patients for one physician daily, conducting full workups that include gathering previous medical history, performing manual vitals, blood draws, and medication reconciliation. This role requires hands-on experience with both straight needle and butterfly blood draws, and drawing on elderly patients is advantageous as the patient demographic is primarily 55+ with a focus on the underserved population.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct full patient workups including obtaining previous medical history and manual vitals.
+ Perform blood draws using both straight needle and butterfly techniques.
+ Reconcile medications for patients.
+ Work primarily with a patient demographic of 55+ in underserved communities.
Essential Skills
+ Phlebotomy and blood draw experience.
+ Completion of a nationally accredited program in Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic.
+ Minimum 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, EMT, or Paramedic.
+ BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent education (GED).
+ Experience working with geriatric patients.
+ Experience with EMR systems.
Work Environment
The work schedule is either 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The Medical Assistant will room 18-22 patients daily, with appointments scheduled at 30-minute intervals. The environment focuses on providing care to the underserved population, predominantly the elderly. #stlsci
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
