    Description

    Our client in Rutherford is seeking an interim Accounting Manager for a 1-2 month engagement. This role involves leading and executing a variety of accounting functions to ensure precise financial reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring CPG industry expertise, technical proficiency, and a hands-on approach to support both operational and strategic accounting tasks. The role is onsite in Rutherford with a possible remote day and is expected to pay between $55-$75/hr. DOE.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee and manage the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting

    • Supervise accounts payable and receivable operations, ensuring smooth workflow and compliance

    • Perform and review bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, and other accounting reports

    • Handle inventory accounting and fixed asset management with precision and adherence to policies

    • Provide support for payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant regulations

    • Manage retail compliance licensing and reporting requirements for the organization

    • Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records

    • Collaborate on financial statement audits by providing necessary documentation and insights

    • Assist in implementing and maintaining accounting systems, ensuring optimal functionality

    • Take a hands-on approach, performing staff and senior-level accounting tasks as needed

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field is strongly preferred

    • Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, ideally within the wine, manufacturing, or consumer packaged goods industries

    • Proficiency in general ledger management, account reconciliation, and month-end close processes

    • Familiarity with Accounting Seed or Salesforce products is a plus, but not required

    • Strong understanding of payroll processing and inventory accounting practices

    • Ability to support financial audits and ensure compliance with licensing and reporting requirements

    • CPA certification or advanced accounting qualifications are highly desirable

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proactive problem-solving mindset
