The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their fulltime Software Application Specialist position in the Office of Information Technology and Data Resources. The Software Application Specialist is responsible for functional support and training related to the Banner Student Module and associated Self-service and SaaS products. In addition to general Banner Student support, this position will specifically support the configuration and standardization of the Banner course catalog, the course schedule, and any system-supported course scheduling applications. The candidate will be expected to interact with users, peers and management via phone, IM, video, email and in person.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide first level support for Banner Student functional users at all TCSG colleges
• Analyze and recommend upgrade paths and timelines for Banner Student and related system supported products
• Analyze upgrade pre-requisites, technology requirement changes and compatibility conflicts with other Ellucian products related to Student releases
• Review changes to Banner pages and processes that may affect functional users and prepare internal documentation to assist with training
• Prepare for and conduct regular training for TCSG college functional staff to include course catalog maintenance, schedule maintenance, and schedule optimization
• Preparation of video demonstrations and course materials
• Provide thorough testing of all Banner Student functions, reports, pages and processes to verify pre-production upgrades prior to release of those upgrades to production
• Because this position supports mission critical software at the colleges, evening and weekend support may be required
• Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree *and* Three (3) years of work related experience Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s Degree
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
• Knowledge of all areas of Banner Student processing, particularly as it relates to the course catalog and course schedule
• Ability to read and comprehend complex technical and functional documentation
• Ability to use remote support tools such as WebEx, Remote Desktop and SSH
• Basic knowledge of the Linux command line environment, FTP, SFTP and Git
• Ability to monitor, test, analyze and troubleshoot Financial Aid pages and batch processes
• Knowledge of manual and/or automated software testing and related tools
• Familiarity with Oracle SQL for population selection development and training. This includes extensive knowledge of the database tables holding financial aid data
• Basic understanding of cloud services and APIs as they relate to financial aid processing
• Decision making and problem-solving skills
• Strong client-facing skills, assertiveness, strong communications skills, leadership, self-starter
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to manage multiple assignments
