    Student Services Coordinator

    Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

    Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years full-time administrative experience in an office setting. Experience with data management and record keeping. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and/or Google Suite (i.e. Mail, Sheets, Docs, Slides, Calendar and Drive).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience working in a higher education setting. Experience working with school policies and procedures. Knowledge of resources available to students. Experience coordinating student events or activities, including orientations and/or academic workshops. Experience working with university systems such as PeopleSoft, SOLAR, and/or DegreeWorks.

    Brief Description of Duties:

    The Student Services Coordinator will provide critical support to the Assistant Dean for Student Services for the School of Social Welfare. The role is key in managing the daily operations of the Office of Student Services, ensuring smooth processes and fostering a supportive and efficient environment for students, faculty, and staff.

     

    As the front-line point of contact for students, this position plays a vital role in enhancing the student experience by offering support throughout their educational journey, ensuring they have the resources and guidance they need to be successful.

     

    The ideal candidate will have a background in administration, and experience working within higher education settings, particularly with diverse student populations, including underserved and first-generation students. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines; excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and an ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion. The ideal candidate will have experience in office administration and supporting a team in a dynamic, high-volume environment.

    Duties:

    Student Services Support:

    + Serve as the primary point of contact for students, addressing inquiries, providing guidance, and directing them to appropriate resources related to academic programs, policies, and available support services.

    + Maintain accurate records of student interactions, academic progress, event participation, and feedback to continuously improve the student service experience.

    + Organize and coordinate orientation sessions for new students, ensuring they are well-informed about school policies, resources, and key academic procedures.

    + Facilitate communication between students and relevant university departments (e.g., registration, advising, financial aid) to ensure students can access necessary services in a timely manner.

    + Assist students with navigating university systems, academic deadlines, and requirements. Process forms, requests, and correspondence, and assist with other administrative tasks as required.

    + Coordinate student-related events such as orientations, workshops, and advising days, providing logistical support, materials, and on-site assistance.

    Data Management and Record Keeping:

    + Maintain and update student records, office files, and tracking systems using spreadsheets and databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

    + Manage statistical and compliance reports as needed, including creating inquiry reports or other related documentation upon request.

    + Process graduation clearances and licensing paperwork for students, ensuring all necessary steps are completed for graduation eligibility.

    + Track and follow up with students who are preparing to return to the program, ensuring all necessary paperwork and requirements are in place.

    + Assist in maintaining compliance with FERPA regulations and other institutional policies on student data privacy.

    **Other duties or projects** as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

    Special Notes:

    This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

     

    In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
