This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
This position exists to provide technical and administrative work, as part of the Office of Environmental Stewardship’s Protected Species team, in ensuring MnDOT’s program meets applicable federal and state agency requirements for Protected Species, including but not limited to the Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Bald & Golden Eagle Protection Act, State Game and Fish Statutes, National Environmental Policy Act, and Minnesota Environmental Policy Act.
This position will occasionally drive throughout Minnesota to meetings and field work.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of professional experience in the areas noted below:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Earth Science, Fish and Wildlife or equivalent will substitute for a year of professional work experience.
+ Experience with natural resource fields of ecology, wildlife biology, terrestrial and aquatic resource management, and environmental planning;
+ Experience conducting impact assessments, evaluations and analysis of wildlife and wetland resources sufficient to recognize, understand and predict the nature and degree of impacts to natural resources resulting from construction activities, methods or techniques;
+ Experience with environmental statutes and implementing regulations;
+ Experience with research techniques, data collection and analysis techniques, as well as database development, management and reporting approaches;
+ Experience using GIS applications for viewing and evaluating data;
+ Experience with oral, written and computer-aided communication skills sufficient to prepare and present complex concepts, documents and exhibits effectively to technical and non-technical audiences;
+ Valid driver’s license.
