Job Summary and Qualifications
JOB SUMMARY
The Application Analyst II serves as a cross-functional expert combining the analytical rigor of a Business Analyst, the technical depth of an Application Analyst, and the product-centric focus of a Product Analyst. This role is responsible for supporting, implementing, and optimizing applications and services owned by the Custom Application & Research Development (CARD) team. The analyst will facilitate communication between stakeholders, prioritize work based on business value, and lead small projects and initiatives. They will also produce documentation, support training efforts, and ensure compliance and performance of CARD tools. The role requires a proactive mindset, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
The Application Analyst II provides hands-on expertise, serving as an internal subject matter expert for implementing applications owned by Custom Application & Research Department (CARD) using Service Central/Service Now platform and staying abreast of enterprise policies and procedure as they change within the implementation environment. They will produce help guides, training manuals, or other documentation supporting CARD owned products and services. This role will triage issues and bugs – escalating issues for continued support when issues arise outside their span of control.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES (The essential responsibilities and accountabilities of this position including interactions with other departments and outside vendors, if applicable, in PRIORITY order.)
• Supports team, division, and enterprise as a key IT resource for application implementation and support
• Knows and applies the fundamental concepts and principles gained through experience to solve a range of problems
• Facilitates communication and discussions between the Business Owner and/or application Subject Matter Expert (SME).
• Assists in multi-facility application implementation initiatives
• Collaborates with HCA India Development Team for requirements clarification, product knowledge transition, creation of product documentation
• Creates Business Requirements for new applications and all new enhancement requests for existing applications
• Creates test plans and test cases
• Conducts clinical data validation
• Facilitates governance and prioritization meeting with Division leadership
• Provides 24-7 on call rotation support for Expanse Go Lives
• Provides support by working with enterprise and division resources to triage service desk incident tickets for assigned applications.
• Collaborates with enterprise, division and/or facility resources to monitor and facilitate new application testing and implementation with an increased responsibility
• Assist the senior and consulting application analysts to develop policies and procedures, develop best practices and deliver training as needed
• Assists the senior and consulting application analysts in process improvement efforts to streamline efficiency that require greater accountability than analysts junior to the role
• Assists the senior and consulting application analysts to actively promote and support a broad range of division application standardization, utilization, integration, and optimization efforts with an increased responsibility over analysts junior to the role
• Adheres to service management operational policies and best practices, contributing to enterprise and IT service management goals.
• Helps implement action plans based on application data and reports
• May perform application audits based on policies and procedures
• Partners with teams across divisions and corporate service lines in developing best practices, track trends, share technical expertise, and improve application efficiency with an increased responsibility
• Ability to present in front of groups both live and virtual
• Consistently delivers according to commitments and project plan dates
• Demonstrates strong ability to create and maintain documentation on CARD tools and services
• Self-motivated and able to stay focused in complex environments
• Promotes system security and patient confidentiality and helps ensure compliance

• Participate in special projects as needed and performs other duties as assigned
OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Required:
• Works independently with general supervision.
• Strong understanding of healthcare and/or IT operations, workflows, and application support.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead initiatives with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills—verbal and written—with ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
• Advanced process documentation and presentation skills (Visio and PowerPoint)
• Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps tools (e.g., GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence).
• Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to identify and articulate business value for application features and enhancements.
• Detail-oriented with strong follow-up and accountability.
• Demonstrated ability to build consensus and drive healthy negotiation.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
EXPERIENCE:
• 3-4 years of general work experience (IT or healthcare experience preferred).
PREFERRED:
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMP, CAPM, or Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt.
• Proficiency in various programming and application reporting tools (SQL, Power BI, PowerApps, UI Path)
• Strong Business Analytics background
• Experience leading large enterprise UAT testing efforts
• Customer service orientation and/or training
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Requires lifting papers or boxes up to 50 pounds occasionally. Work is performed in an office environment. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations. Travel between facilities in a geographic zone will be required.
