Overview:

We are currently hiring an Animal Control Technician to be a part of the EH&S team for a long term contract in Newport News. This animal control program works with managing a feral cat population for rodent control, and the program includes trapping, spaying/neutering, and veterinary care for sick cats.

Description:

+ Manages animal control program responsibilities to ensure safety of workforce and compliance to applicable laws.

+ Implements and monitors industrial safety programs to ensure personnel and facility safety.

+ Participates in monitoring and controlling the organization's safety standards in accordance with OSHA and State codes and regulations.

+ Evaluates new equipment and materials for safety.

+ Performs surveys and inspections to ensure compliance with the organization's policies, procedures, regulations and standards related to employee safety.

+ Tests and services safety equipment and systems.

+ Reports non-compliance or hazardous conditions found and suggests remedial action to be taken.

+ May maintain storage areas, consumable supply inventories, and personnel protection equipment.

Qualifications:

+ US Citizenship

+ High School Diploma

+ Previous experience in animal control management.

+ Previous experience working as a farmhand or with animals preferred.

+ Capable of learning, retaining, and executing rudimentary tasks.

+ Willing to follow chain of command.

+ Pay Rate: $25-$29/hr.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
