Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Description
The Medical Assistant performs clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under the supervision of a physician/provider and/or a registered nurse. This role involves measurement and documentation of vital signs, assisting providers with patient exams, and providing telephone and clerical support. The position may require floating to other sites or locations within the system.
Responsibilities
+ Utilize the EMR to propose patient medication refills for provider approval.
+ Complete requisitions for tests and contact insurance companies for pre-authorizations for patient medications and specialty referrals.
+ Provide telephone screening services to gather information from patients, determine appropriate disposition, and document per established protocols.
+ Perform selected patient and laboratory testing consistent with the scope of practice, including Point of Care Testing, tuberculosis skin testing, electrocardiography, pulmonary function tests, and vision and hearing testing.

+ Blood pressure measurement
+ Healthcare experience
+ High School Diploma or GED
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 6 months experience working in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent experience required.
+ Prior experience as a medical assistant preferred.
+ Experience in medical assisting and phlebotomy.
Work Environment
The role is based in the OBGYN & Urology Department. The standard work hours are from 8 am to 5 pm, although flexibility is required to accommodate early shifts due to patient needs. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, DC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.50 - $25.50/hr.
