Job Title: Superintendent - Retail Buildout ProjectJob Description
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead a retail buildout project in California. This role requires overseeing the entire scope of construction activities to ensure projects are executed in accordance with design specifications, budget constraints, and schedule requirements. The Superintendent will supervise and coordinate contractors and trades, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee pre-construction meetings and coordinate temporary facilities.
+ Develop and implement safety plans.
+ Manage subcontractor contracts and ensure adherence to QA/QC programs.
+ Supervise jobsite activities including daily scheduling and manpower management.
+ Conduct weekly safety meetings and manage time and unit recording.
+ Communicate regularly with the Project Manager.
+ Handle city inspections and document management.
+ Administer punch lists and ensure completion in Procore.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 8 years of Superintendent experience in commercial/TI construction.
+ Strong knowledge of construction methods, tools, scheduling, and cost control.
+ OSHA 30 certification.
+ Proven ability to ensure client satisfaction while maintaining profitability and safety.
+ Excellent leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
+ Proficient in interpreting design and construction documents and contracts.
+ Familiarity with LEAN, BIM, and sustainability practices.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
+ Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Procore, project management platforms, and scheduling software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
+ Proficient with Procore and MS Office Suite.
+ Experience in commercial construction, tenant improvement, hotel renovation, public works, vertical construction, and carpentry.
+ Strategic thinker with hands-on problem-solving capabilities.
Work Environment
The role is based onsite at the jobsite in the Los Angeles area, California, for a retail buildout/TI project. Work will be conducted out of a trailer as there is no office in California. The position is salaried, with working days from Monday through Friday. The role includes an allowance for start/end times, phone, laptop/iPad. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beverly Hills, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
