Are you looking for an opportunity to serve the great state of Idaho while maintaining a healthy work life balance? We have an immediate opening for a General Services Bureau Chief in our downtown Boise office. Lead and manage the General Services Bureau to ensure safe, cost‑effective, and customer‑focused delivery of facilities maintenance, grounds/landscaping, physical security, and postal operations across Department of Administration operated properties.
We serve Idaho by promoting responsible government through expert customer support.
Examples of Duties:
+ Strategic leadership and planning: Develop and implement bureau strategic plans, annual workplans, and capital/operational budgets that align with Department goals and statewide facility policies.
+ Facilities maintenance oversight: Direct preventive maintenance, repair, and lifecycle planning for state buildings and systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, building envelope), ensuring uptime and code compliance.
+ Grounds and landscaping management: Oversee landscape seasonal maintenance schedules, irrigation systems, snow removal, and sustainable grounds practices to preserve campus aesthetics and safety.
+ Physical security operations: Lead security program including access control, CCTV, alarm systems, security staffing models, emergency response coordination, and threat/vulnerability assessments consistent with state rules for property use.
+ Postal and mail services: Manage centralized mailroom/postal operations, meter and postage procurement, interagency mail routing, and vendor relationships to ensure timely, secure, and cost‑efficient mail services.
+ Contracting and vendor management: Oversee procurement and performance of contractors for maintenance, landscaping, security, and postal vendors; negotiate service-level agreements and monitor KPIs.
+ Budget and resource stewardship: Prepare and manage bureau budgets, track expenditures, identify cost‑savings, and justify capital requests.
+ Staff leadership and development: Supervise managers and frontline staff; recruit, train, evaluate, and enforce safety and performance standards.
+ Continuous improvement: Implement asset management systems, preventive maintenance software, and performance metrics to improve service delivery and transparency.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Experience managing staff and programs; administering policies and procedures; assessing program/project outcomes; interpreting and applying federal and state laws, regulations and/or directives; preparing and presenting oral presentations to executives or governing boards; writing business documents and report.

+ Overseeing licensing, investigations, and inspections
+ Considerable knowledge of:
+ Working with boards and executive Board meetings
+ Implementing organizational change
+ Strategic and organizational planning of goals and objectives
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience identifying and resolving complex problems.
+ Considerable knowledge of assessing program outcomes, strategic and organizational planning of goals and objectives, and project management.
+ Good knowledge of management and personnel practices.
