The Safety Data Sheet & Product Labeling Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements related to chemical safety documentation and product labeling. This role oversees the creation, maintenance, and distribution of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product labels, and associated hazard communication materials to support product stewardship and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
+ Develop, review, and maintain Safety Data Sheets in accordance with OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, GHS, REACH, WHMIS, and other applicable regulations.
+ Ensure timely updates to SDS based on formulation changes, regulatory updates, or new hazard information.
+ Manage SDS authoring software and maintain accurate databases.
+ Create and update product labels to meet global regulatory requirements, including GHS pictograms, hazard statements, and precautionary statements.
+ Collaborate with marketing and packaging teams to ensure accurate and compliant labeling.
+ Monitor regulatory changes impacting labeling requirements and implement updates proactively.
+ Stay current on international chemical regulations and hazard communication standards.
+ Support audits and inspections by providing accurate documentation and compliance evidence.
+ Maintain records of SDS and labeling activities for internal and external reporting.
+ Work closely with R&D, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain teams to ensure product safety information is accurate and accessible.
+ Provide training and guidance on SDS and labeling requirements to internal stakeholders.
Essential Skills
+ Expertise in regulatory affairs, labeling, and quality assurance.
+ Experience in document control, audit, and quality systems management.
+ Proficiency with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring tools and regulatory databases.
+ Strong knowledge of GHS, OSHA, REACH, WHMIS, and other global hazard communication standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in SDS authoring and product labeling within a regulated industry (such as chemicals, manufacturing, or consumer goods).
Work Environment
The role involves collaborating with various teams including R&D, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain to ensure product safety information is accurate and accessible. The position requires proficiency with SDS authoring software and regulatory databases, and involves staying current on international chemical regulations and hazard communication standards.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Branchburg, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.26/hr.
