Position Description:
This hybrid role will require someone at our client site in Pittsburgh, PA, Dallas, TX, or Naples, FL.
Cloud/Data Architect responsible for designing and implementing cloud-native applications with a focus on scalability, performance, and security. The role involves expertise in backend development, NoSQL databases (particularly MongoDB), and DevOps processes for cloud-based deployments.
This position plays a key role in defining technical standards, guiding architectural decisions, and ensuring delivery excellence across teams. The Senior Developer / Architect collaborates with developers, DevOps engineers, and QA teams to implement robust, maintainable solutions that align with organizational goals and best practices.
This role requires strong technical acumen, problem-solving ability, and leadership skills to mentor teams, optimize architecture, and ensure high-quality, reliable software delivery in AWS and CI/CD environments.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
. Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud-native architectures using AWS services, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
. Lead backend development and NoSQL database design, with a strong focus on MongoDB architecture, schema design, indexing, sharding, and replication strategies.
. Collaborate with development, DevOps, and QA teams to define solution architecture, cloud deployment strategies, and database integration patterns.
. Oversee CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and containerized environments (Kubernetes/Docker) to ensure smooth, reliable delivery.
. Mentor and guide developers and junior architects on technical design, coding standards, and performance optimization.
. Ensure all development and deployment processes adhere to security, compliance, and governance standards (DevSecOps).
. Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve application performance, scalability, and team productivity.
. Act as a technical authority in client discussions, providing thought leadership on cloud architecture, database strategies, and DevOps best practices.
. Collaborate with Delivery Managers and project leads to ensure alignment with business objectives, project timelines, and delivery quality.
. Participate in architecture and design reviews, code reviews, and postmortem analyses to drive continuous improvement.
. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, AWS cloud services, MongoDB features, and modern DevOps practices
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. 10+ years of IT experience, with deep expertise in cloud architecture, backend development, and database design.
. Strong experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, EKS, IAM, etc.).
. Expert in NoSQL databases, especially MongoDB, including replication, sharding, indexing, and performance optimization.
. Hands-on experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes).
. Knowledge of application security best practices and DevSecOps principles.
. Experience in designing and delivering scalable, distributed web and mobile applications.
. Experience in monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack and Cloudwatch
. Strong problem-solving skills, technical judgment, and ability to provide architectural guidance.
. Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with architects, developers, DevOps engineers, and stakeholders.
. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern software development lifecycle management.
. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
. Effective communicator for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
. Mentorship mindset to grow team capability.
. Strategic thinking to balance innovation, performance, and delivery constraints.
. Customer-oriented with focus on delivery excellence.
Certifications (Preferred)
. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional / DevOps Engineer – Professional
. MongoDB Certified DBA or Developer

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $69,700.00 - $154,300.00.
