Job Title: Staff Accountant

We’re partnering with a well-established construction company in the Springfield area that is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their accounting team. In this role, you’ll support the Assistant Controller and play a key part in daily accounting operations, month-end close, and financial reporting. This is a great opportunity to build depth in corporate accounting while contributing to a collaborative and growing organization.

Main Responsibilities:

+ Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliations

+ Manage all sales and use tax return filings

+ Reconcile monthly sales by state and ensure accuracy of supporting reports

+ Perform account reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation

+ Oversee daily service capitalization activities

+ Maintain and update the company’s business forecast

+ Support month-end close by preparing journal entries and account analyses

+ Maintain and track fixed assets, including additions and disposals

+ Manage the company credit card program, including receipt collection and coding

+ Assist with fiscal year-end close and audit preparation

+ Serve as backup support for Accounts Payable

+ File year-end 1099s and maintain W-9 records

+ Support ad hoc projects and additional tasks as assigned by management

Requirements

Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

+ 2+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including month-end close

+ Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles

+ Experience with ERP/accounting systems

+ Advanced Excel and strong overall systems skills

Pluses:

+ Experience in the construction, manufacturing, or project-based industry

+ Prior exposure to inventory accounting

+ Strong analytical skills and a continuous-improvement mindset

+ Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment
