Senior Accountant
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, analyzing, and reconciling transactions and general ledger balances, primarily focusing on balance sheet accounts. This individual will play a key role in creating and delivering financial information on a periodic basis and supporting the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external reporting packages.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, analyzing, and reconciling transactions and general ledger balances, mainly balance sheet accounts.
+ Create and deliver financial information as requested on a periodic basis.
+ Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external reporting packages.
+ Perform various monthly and yearly closing activities, including accuracy verification, account reconciliation, and earnings analysis.
+ Analyze financial information, prepare financial statements, and provide required analysis for management's decision-making.
+ Prepare financial reporting packages for the Board of Directors.
+ Maintain the accounts payable automation process.
+ Develop and maintain monthly flux analysis of balance sheet accounts.
+ Support the creation and definition of internal financial controls, including SOX-level as needed.
+ Assist with technical accounting activities, projects, and policies as directed.
+ Support the yearly audit.
+ Collaborate closely with the Director of Financial Systems to implement process improvements via automation and workflows to achieve a 10-day close schedule.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
+ Minimum 2 years of related experience.
+ CPA License
+ Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
+ Experience creating and developing internal controls.
+ Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving, analytical, and time management skills.
+ Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Highly proficient in MS Office applications.
+ Experience with preparation of financial journal entries and associated reconciliations.
+ Experience preparing financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Preferred Master’s degree in accounting (MACC).
+ Preferred experience at a Big 4 accounting firm.
+ Knowledge of ERP systems, NetSuite, and Tipalti is a plus.
+ Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
+ Willingness to independently investigate issues and discrepancies.
+ Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
+ Ability to quickly learn and improve multiple processes.
Work Environment
The work schedule is from 9 am to 5 pm, with a hybrid setup requiring two days per week onsite in Durham. Enjoy a supportive work environment with benefits including 120 hours of PTO and 12 holidays for contractors.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Durham, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
