Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
+ Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions.
+ Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects (including but not limited to mouse handling and dissection, cell and tissue staining (IF), western blot/protein arrays and ELISA, PCR, etc.).
+ Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research.
+ Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas.
+ Provide animal care related to research studies, as necessary.
+ Pick up, transport, and maintain results, samples, documents, materials, and other items as needed.
+ Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; receive guidance and direction or escalate when required.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Entry Level:
+ Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, biology, molecular biology, chemistry, physiology, or related field.
+ A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Intermediate Level:
+ Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, biology, molecular biology, chemistry, physiology, or related field.
+ A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
+ One (1) year professional level research experience, which includes hands-on wet laboratory work and experience with mouse handling.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
+ Two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory, including mouse handling.
+ Prior experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, or similar field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
+ Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
+ Outstanding customer service skills.
+ Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
+ Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
+ Organized and motivated and takes the initiative to make sure projects move forward.
+ Ability to work independently with occasional guidance.

This Research Services Laboratory Professional position will work with Dr. Ester Oh, a new Assistant Professor in the Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, to conduct translational studies spanning cells, animal models, and human participants. The research focuses on evaluating the effects of various interventions on vascular function in the context of chronic kidney disease. The primary responsibilities include administering interventions and assessing vascular function in mice, performing biochemical and histological analyses in mouse tissues, and conducting biochemical analyses in blood and circulating or vascular cells from human subjects. The position may also provide opportunities to assist with ongoing human clinical studies.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as: $46,274 - $58,861 $50,357 - $64,054 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
