    Job Description

    Our client is building one of the largest Data Centers in the Midwest to promote the growth of A.I. and physical Infrastructure.

     

    Currently, we are seeking entry-level and mid-level cable technicians, who are willing to relocate to Altoona, Iowa for a 6-month training, then bring back their knowledge to Des Moines, IA in Summer 2026 to expand local growth.

     

    Data Center Technicians will be learning structured cabling on a grand scale. Technicians will gain IT Networking experience by working alongside Team Leads and Network Engineers.

    Duties

    + Install Cable Trays, Pathways and Racks

    + Pull Cable, CAT and Fiber

    + Laying Fiber/Cable

    + Learning Color Codes

    + Rerouting & Mounting

    + Punchdown and Terminations

    + Building Server Racks

     

    Day-to-Day

     

    + Learn to follow blueprints from supervisors’ direction.

    + Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack, and label cables.

    + Dispose of old/outdated devices.

    + Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.

    + Terminate low-voltage devices.

    + Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other method.

    + Install a work area outlet for floor (i.e. monument), and wall (i.e. box eliminator).

    + Route cable through data center.

    + Suspend and support cable correctly: Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze.

    + Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, pull cable through sleeves and core penetration.

    Shift

     

    + 1st shift, 7AM-7PM

    + Monday-Friday

    + 8-12 hour days

    + If work is behind will work 6 days per week Monday-Saturday

    + Free Lodging, paid by company

    + $25/hr Per Diem (Food)

    + Entry-Level Technicians $20-22/hr

    + Mid-Level Technicians $23-25/hr

    + Interviews are virtual and a 2-Step process

    + Drug Test and Background Check required

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
