Lead Civil/Structural Engineer – Nuclear Infrastructure Projects

Overview

System One is seeking a highly skilled Lead Civil/Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership on major nuclear infrastructure and facility projects. In this role, you will guide the civil and structural engineering scope from conceptual design through execution, ensuring structures are safe, resilient, and fully compliant with industry codes and regulatory expectations.

You will operate as both a technical authority and a team leader—driving design excellence, directing EPC contractor activities, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring that all structural solutions integrate seamlessly across disciplines. Your work will directly influence the success of one of the most high-profile nuclear projects underway today.

Key Responsibilities

+ Lead structural design and analysis for buildings, industrial facilities, and critical civil infrastructure.

+ Serve as the technical authority for structural systems; mentor junior engineers and perform detailed reviews of key engineering deliverables.

+ Oversee and coordinate structural and civil design activities performed by the EPC contractor to ensure alignment with design intent, safety, quality, and schedule.

+ Ensure all engineered structures meet applicable codes and standards, including IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE.

+ Collaborate closely with geotechnical engineers, architects, mechanical/electrical disciplines, and project leadership to deliver fully integrated design solutions.

+ Review and approve engineering calculations, construction drawings, specifications, and technical reports.

+ Conduct site visits, assessments, and structural inspections during design and construction phases.

+ Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced project environment.

Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).

+ Minimum 6 years of progressive civil/structural engineering experience supporting industrial, nuclear, or large-scale infrastructure projects.

+ Demonstrated leadership experience on multidisciplinary engineering efforts.

Licenses & Certifications

+ Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

+ Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred (where applicable).

Skills & Competencies

+ Expertise with structural analysis and design tools such as SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, RISA, ANSYS, or similar software.

+ Strong working knowledge of industry codes and standards (IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7).

+ Exceptional communication, teamwork, and client-facing skills.

+ Strong organizational abilities and project management discipline.

+ Detail-oriented mindset with advanced problem-solving capabilities.
