Scope of Job
We seek applicants for one non-tenure-track position in Economics at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. The position is for three years with the possibility of renewal. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field by the beginning of Fall 2026. We seek excellent teachers committed to the success and social mobility of our students. Experience of teaching Economics in higher education in a culturally diverse setting is strongly preferred. We are a Hispanic-serving institution located in South Texas near the US-Mexico border. Even though this is primarily an instructional position, 10% of its workload consists of Research. Hence, modest publication shall be encouraged and expected.

The Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship is AACSB -accredited at the graduate and undergraduate levels and offers a Ph.D. in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Management, and Marketing.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field prior to the start of the Fall 2026 semester and must provide evidence of teaching effectiveness and research potential.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Applicants must have earned at least 18 graduate credit hours in the field of Economics.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience at teaching Economics to a diverse student body is desirable, as is the ability to use technology to support teaching and learning. It is also desirable that the applicant have an active basic, applied, or pedagogical research agenda consistent with the AACSB Scholarly Academic faculty qualification.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
•51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
