Emergency Room (ER)Registered Nurse (RN)

The ER RN is a highly skilled and compassionate nursingprofessional responsible for providing rapid, comprehensive care to patientsexperiencing urgent and emergent conditions. This role requires exceptionalcritical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple prioritiesin a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. The RN collaborates withphysicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff to ensure safe,effective, and patient-centered care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process to assess, plan,implement, and evaluate care for patients with urgent and emergent needs

• Perform rapid patient assessments, includingvital signs, triage, physical exams, and health histories

• Recognize and respond promptly tolife-threatening conditions such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, andtrauma

• Administer emergency medications, treatments,and IV therapies as prescribed

• Monitor and document patient responses tointerventions and changes in condition

• Collaborate with healthcare providers to developand adjust individualized care plans

• Prepare patients for diagnostic tests,procedures, and emergency surgeries

• Provide wound care, pain management, andstabilization for critically ill or injured patients

• Educate patients and families on dischargeinstructions and follow-up care

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation inthe electronic health record (EHR)

• Adhere to infection control, safety, and qualitystandards

• Respond promptly to emergencies such as codes,rapid deterioration, and trauma alerts

• Support patient advocacy and uphold patientrights and confidentiality

Minimum Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse License in the state ofpractice

• Minimum one year of professional nursingexperience; ER experience preferred

• Completion of Amergis' Competency Program (ifapplicable)

• Current BLS and ACLS certification (PALSpreferred)

• Proficiency in emergency protocols and rapidassessment techniques

• TB screening and health clearance (as requiredby contract or regulation)

• Compliance with all federal, state, and localregulations

• Successful completion of new hire orientationand ER training

• Understanding of patient confidentiality andHIPAA regulations

• Strong communication skills and proficiency inEnglish

• Basic computer literacy

• Must be at least 18 years of age
