    What We Do:

    The Colorado Department of Revenue's Taxation Education and Training Team creates and executes public education programs as well as internal employee trainings that further the goals and objectives of the Department. Our team of customer-focused, motivated, professionals is dedicated to providing educational resources through public interaction that may include contact with local individual businesses, business associations, tax professionals and individual taxpayers via face-to-face group training classes, webinars, and one-on-one individual training.

     

    The Education and Training Team is seeking an individual with a strong background in training/education of adult learners and extensive experience and/or knowledge in Colorado tax to serve as a Training Specialist III within the unit. The position will be responsible for educating both internal and external audiences on current and future tax information and tax filing requirements based on department policies, accounting processes, and existing and future tax legislation.

    The typical day as a Training Specialist III:

    The primary duties and responsibilities of a Training Specialist III include:

    + Training both in person and virtually on a variety of tax types and Colorado tax laws to taxpayers, tax professionals, business owners and other stakeholders;

    + Traveling to various locations based on needs of the role and current key CDOR projects;

    + Interact with Colorado taxpayers and assist with training support based on individual taxpayer needs and CDOR priorities;

    + Partnering as needed with Taxpayer Service Center and Call Center staff as well as other internal work groups to support in any needed taxpayer training or education goals;

    + Answering web messages, responding to emails, phone and face-to-face appointments, and community outreach events and;

    + Participating in all necessary reporting and tracking of data reflecting team project success and implementation.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience Only:

    Six (6) years of relevant experience in staff development, instructional design, adult education, taxation, or in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

    OR

    Education and Experience:

    A combination of related education in Business, Education, Social Science, Psychology, Communications, Organizational Development and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications:

    + Current or prior experience providing training, delivering or developing content for adult learners regarding tax-specific issues.

    + Experience evaluating training programs, methods, and materials and choosing those that best fit each situation.

    + Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with subject matter experts and work with teams

    + Advanced written and oral communication skills to convey information clearly and facilitate learning to diverse audiences.

    + Proven resourcefulness in developing training materials (ability to think of and implement new approaches when considering training methods).

    + Proven strong instructional training skills to meet the learning needs of diverse groups.

    Conditions of Employment with the CDOR :

    Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence.

     

    As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations .

     

    Pursuant to the Universal Driving Standards Policy (https://osc.colorado.gov/sites/osc/files/documents/Universal%20Policy%20Driving%20Standards.pdf) , any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.

    To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who:

    + Have an assigned State fleet vehicle

    + Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position

    + Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
