Job Summary
**Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine** is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Farm Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the animal facilities and husbandry of designated animals/areas and managing routine maintenance of equipment, facilities, and property directly and through supervision of others.
Essential Functions
+ Manages and participates in the daily operations and maintenance of animal care and holding complexes for a variety of large animal species that supports veterinary medicine teaching, research and treatment programs.
+ Informs supervisor or department head of work progress, present and potential problems, and makes suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing problems.
+ Assists in the preparation planning and execution of special events and activities.
+ Provides technical and mechanical assistance in the maintenance of fleet equipment and schedules annual equipment maintenance.
+ Inspects, records maintenance of, and advises on the management and care of mechanical shop, pastures, and animal facilities.
+ Assists the director in planning and deciding protocols pertaining to facilities, equipment and supplies, animal health and care operations, and employees.
+ Clear communication and collaboration with all herd managers/coordinators, the unit veterinarians, and university veterinarian are essential and expected.
+ Ensures appropriate training for equipment operators.
+ Ensures team follows all AU policies for safety and training and followsCVM infection control policies.
+ The position has some after-hours, holiday, and weekend responsibility if emergencies involving the farm facilities and equipment require attention.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned.
Full supervisory responsibility for other employees is a major responsibility and includes training, evaluating, and making or recommending pay, promotion or other employment decisions.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
+ High school diploma plus 6 years of experience in a veterinary facility or farm environment. At least 1 year of supervisor experience.
Graduate degrees may be accepted in lieu of experience.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities
+ Knowledge of veterinary teaching hospital practices, animal care, infectious disease protocols, equipment maintenance, and pasture or land management.
+ This position requires the ability to lift up to 100 lbs, and consists of working outdoors year-round.

Minimum License and Certifications
+ Valid in-state driver’s license is required.
+ Pesticide applicator – state licensure: The ability to obtain a pesticide license may be required in specific positions.
