    Job Description

    Responsibilities

    + Design, deliver, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available cloud services for Java application lifecycle management and monitoring on OCI.

    + Lead and own features end-to-end: from requirements and architecture/design to implementation, testing, deployment, and production operations (on-call as needed).

    + Drive service reliability, velocity, and quality with automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability (metrics, logs, traces), and robust incident/outage management.

    + Institute and champion “security by design,” including strong authentication/authorization, secrets management, and compliance-minded development.

    + Mentor peers, perform code/design reviews, and raise engineering quality through high standards and clear technical documentation.

    + Collaborate closely with product managers, the Java Platform team, and partner organizations to deliver impactful, customer-centric solutions.

    + Thoughtfully and securely integrate AI-assisted engineering practices to boost developer efficiency and code quality while adhering to Oracle’s security, privacy, and compliance standards.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + 15+ years of software engineering experience, with deep expertise building backend services or platforms (Java preferred; Scala, Python, C# as secondary language).

    + Expert with modern backend frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Helidon) and REST API design (OpenAPI/Swagger).

    + Hands-on cloud experience (OCI preferred, AWS/Azure/GCP accepted), including networking and integration with managed services.

    + Advanced proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native operational patterns (rollouts, autoscaling, service mesh).

    + Robust DevOps and CI/CD practice (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Infrastructure as Code with Terraform), and strong Git skills.

    + Security expertise: OAuth2/OIDC/JWT, secrets management (Vault), secure coding standards.

    + Experience with both relational (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB) databases, including schema management.

    + Solid Linux skills and troubleshooting experience with distributed systems and production incident resolution.

    + Clear communicator with a record of technical documentation, cross-functional teamwork, and consensus-building.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Deep expertise in Java in production: performance, memory, concurrency, tuning, etc.

    + Hands-on running cloud services on OCI (OKE, Functions, Load Balancing, Logging/Monitoring).

    + Proven architect of multi-tenant, highly available systems with leading observability and incident management practices.

    + Experience with cloud security, compliance frameworks, threat modeling, and vulnerability management.

    + Familiarity with event-driven/streaming, caching, and async design patterns.

    + Knowledge of API gateways, service mesh, zero-downtime deployment.

    + Practical experience adopting responsible AI engineering practices for productivity and quality.

    + Background in mentoring and technical leadership without formal authority.

    US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

     

    Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

     

    Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

    8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

    10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
