    Description

    The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Rochester invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate working with Professors Miki Nakajima and Dustin Trail and their research groups. The successful candidate will conduct research in including (not limited to) shock experiments, target fabrication, sample analysis and characterization, and impact modeling.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Design, conduct, and analyze research in mineral physics, geochemistry, and Earth and planetary sciences.

    + Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at professional conferences.

    + Collaborate with faculty, graduate students, and external partners as appropriate.

    + Assist in the preparation of research proposals and progress reports.

    + Mentor undergraduate or graduate students as needed.

    + Contribute to the intellectual life of the department through seminars, workshops, and collaborations.

    Qualifications

    + Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Sciences, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field (must be completed by the start date).

    + Strong research background in mineral physics, geochemistry, and Earth and planetary sciences.

    + Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and work as part of a team.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals is preferred.
