**Description** The Senior GIS Strategist will lead geospatial strategy and implementation for the Environmental Studies Department within ENS. This role focuses on supporting environmental planning, permitting, and compliance projects through advanced GIS solutions. The strategist will serve as a technical leader and advisor, ensuring best practices in geospatial analysis and data management for environmental studies and regulatory processes.
+ Develop and implement GIS strategies for environmental routing, siting, permitting, and impact analysis.
+ Lead creation and management of GIS datasets, maps, and spatial models to support NEPA documentation, environmental assessments, and regulatory filings.
+ Ensure quality control of GIS deliverables, including projections, transformations, and spatial accuracy for environmental studies.
+ Collaborate with environmental scientists, planners, and permitting specialists to integrate GIS into project workflows.
+ Manage GIS system configurations and oversee implementation of new geospatial tools to improve efficiency and compliance.
+ Prepare and present spatial analysis reports that inform environmental decision-making and regulatory strategies.
+ Develop QA/QC procedures for data conversions, translations, and environmental mapping standards.
+ Mentor and guide junior GIS staff within the Environmental Studies Department.
+ Ensure compliance with company safety policies and environmental data standards.
+ Drives project development of GIS system configurations and requirements.
+ Identifies, develops and implements GIS system needs and requirements to implement improved work methods.
+ Leads the implementation of new geospatial software or programs.
+ Prepares and presents project analysis studies and recommendations to meet or exceed business goals, quality, and project efficiency.
+ Recommends areas of improvement related to identifying training needs, workflow efficiency, quality of deliverables, etc.
+ Develops quality check procedures to analyze data conversions and translations.
+ Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff.
+ Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
+ Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, or related field, and 8 years of related experience, or an Associate Degree and 10 years of related experience, or High School Diploma/GED and 12 years of related GIS experience.
+ Demonstrated proficiency working in ArcPro and AGOL.
+ Expert knowledge of data analysis.
+ Ability to work independently, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
+ Attention to detail.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Expert knowledge in computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
+ Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
+ GIS certification from an accredited university.
+ GISP certification preferred.
