    Description

    The Research Physical Therapist has primary responsibility for conduct of assessments and intervention of therapy in accordance with standardized research protocols. The Research Physical Therapist contributes to the development of research protocols to ensure effective, efficient, and compliant project progress. The Research Physical Therapist coordinates the daily operation of research studies with other project staff and is responsible for ensuring protection of human subjects per IRB guidelines. Opportunities exist for clinical practice and teaching in entry level DPT program.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    + Serves as the coordinator of educational activities in a physical therapy laboratory classroom environment in the Department of Rehab Medicine, Division of Physical Therapy (DPT).

    + Responsibilities include functioning as a laboratory classroom assistant which includes giving feedback in lab and assisting with practical exams, organization and grading of practical examinations, maintaining equipment and supplies, coordinating schedules of lab personnel (clinicians, teaching assistants, etc), and other duties as determined by faculty for clinical science courses in the Emory Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

    + Practice opportunities may also be available within Emory Healthcare facilities.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Graduation from a physical therapy school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of Georgia.

    + One year of experience required.

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Preference will be given to candidates with a breadth of clinical experience, including inpatient and outpatient environments and across practice areas (orthopedics, neurology, cardiovascular & pulmonary, etc).

    + Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy

    + Skills

    + Eligible for PT license in the state of GA

    + Experience working with persons with neurological health conditions preferred

    + Experience: Research experience preferred.

    + **Certifications -NCS preferred**

    ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:

    The lab coordinator is a physical therapist staff member responsible for a variety of tasks related to the operations of our clinical teaching laboratories. These include, but are not limited to:

     

    + Responsible for administration and implementation of therapy protocols and/or clinical assessments.

    + Responsible for participation in program meetings and teleconferences, including scientific meetings teaching conferences, research seminars and CME programs.

    + Establishes protocols and procedures for maintaining fidelity of research activities and assessments.

    + Evaluates potential participants to determine eligibility for study

    + Provides mentorship to other staff members participating in these activities.

    + Provides mentorship and education to clinical staff on clinical outcome measures, evidence-based interventions, and research protocols

    + Helps with clinical trial organization, including recruitment, administering surveys, ensuring continuity across clinical staff, and between clinical staff and research staff.

    + Facilitate creation of source documents that ensure systematic data collection and/or aid in protocol execution and management and record keeping.

    + Helps design and enter data into REDCap databases

    + Collects and controls research data and submit information from databases as needed/requested.

    + QI process implementation, maintenance and documentation under PI or Research Project Director; data entry; and maintenance of regulatory documents

    + Works with Principal Investigator in the development of IRB protocols, grant submissions and scientific publications.

    + Attends scientific conferences and gives scientific presentations.

    + Screen, examine, evaluate, and develop/implement plan of care with patients seen in the Center for PT and Movement Science

     

    NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
