    Corteva Agriscience is seeking an **Associate Investigator** **.** The PCR Analysis and Characterization (PAC) laboratory operates as a sub-function of the Genome Center of Excellence (GCOE) at Corteva Agriscience™ to support research with development and implementation of PCR-based screening assays across Corteva. PAC is a centralized analytical laboratory that provides qualitative and quantitative real-time PCR analysis to assist Corteva scientists as they seek to improve various crops through conventional breeding and genetic engineering. We are world-class experts in DNA/RNA detection and quantitation. We provide data in a rapid, cost effective and efficient manner. We produce high quality data that unequivocally fulfills the experimental design and answers research questions.

     

    PAC is seeking a responsible, highly motivated, and strong communicator to join the high-throughput production environment of our PCR Setup Team. This role is key to ensuring accurate and efficient real-time PCR (qPCR) production through preparation of reactions, management of oligo and reagent inventories, operation of automation systems, and troubleshooting performance or quality issues.

     

    The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable to shifting priorities, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced lab setting. Excellent communication skills are essential for partnering with production teams and ensuring priorities are clearly aligned across a dynamic environment.

    What You’ll Do:

    + Prepare and execute PCR/qPCR reactions by combining assay mixes, controls, and sample DNA according to SOPs, exercising independent judgment where appropriate.

    + Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot automation equipment and related lab systems in accordance with SOPs; participate in training and assist with deployment of new automation technologies.

    + Maintain and organize oligo, reagent, and control inventories, ensuring outdated materials are removed, replenishments are available, and production demand thresholds are met.

    + Ensure all materials and reagents are prepared properly, safely, and on time to support daily production.

    + Monitor production quality and performance, identifying issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions or process improvements.

    + Partner and communicate effectively with production teams and stakeholders to balance workloads, align on priorities, and maintain smooth daily operations.

    + Perform routine lab support tasks including consumable management, restocking, cleaning, and general maintenance to sustain production readiness.

    + Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects focused on balancing time, cost, and quality while improving efficiency and reliability.

    + Maintain accurate production records and documentation within proprietary and standard software systems (including LIMS).

    + Support stewardship of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and compliance with the Corteva Agriscience Management System (CAMS).

    + Direct work of contractors or temporary employees as needed, ensuring safety, accuracy, and efficiency.

    + Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to all safety, quality, and CAMS requirements.

    + Occasional overtime and/or nights & weekends as dictated by workload.

    Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Experience

    + Genotyping methods, platforms, and processes.

    + High-throughput PCR and quantitative PCR (qPCR) production.

    + Plasmid, oligo, and gBlock handling.

    + Core molecular biology techniques and inventory management.

    + Comfortable using laboratory information systems and automated platforms.

    + Ability to adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy and focus.

    + Skilled in following SOPs and ensuring compliance with safety and quality systems.

    + Experience operating liquid handlers, automated PCR systems, and robotic freezers.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    + Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to learn new technologies.

    What Skills You Need:

    + Bachelor of Science in Biology, Biotechnology, or related discipline preferred.

    + 2–4 years of relevant industry experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Proven experience with PCR and real-time PCR applications.

    + Experience in high-throughput production laboratory workflows.

    + Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

    + Ability to use digital systems to access, collect, and synthesize production information.

    + May be required to perform physical lifting and work in varying ergonomic environments.
