Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

    Position Highlights

    + **Schedule:** 16 hours/week, Day shift

    + **Location:** BMC Campus – Springfield, MA

    + **Department:** Hybrid Vascular Operating Room (HVOR)

    + **Bonus:** Up to $2,000 for eligible external hires

    What You’ll Do

    As a Surgical Technologist in the OR, you will:

    + Assist surgeons and physicians with a wide range of complex procedures, including minimally invasive and open surgeries.

    + Maintain sterile technique and monitor the surgical environment to ensure optimal patient safety.

    + Anticipate surgeon needs and provide appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment in a timely manner.

    + Function across multiple specialties and adapt quickly to emergent situations.

    + Collaborate with nurses, anesthesiologists, and other clinicians as a key part of a multidisciplinary care team.

    Surgical Technologist I

    + Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or equivalent accredited training program

    + AST Certification*

    + BLS Certification (American Heart Association)

    *Required for new hires without prior surgical facility experience before July 1, 2013.

    Surgical Technologist II

    + Meets all Tech I requirements

    + Minimum 2 years of experience, or 1 year at BMC with completion of orientation competencies

    Surgical Technologist III

    + Meets all Tech I requirements

    + Minimum 4 years of experience, including at least 1 year at Baystate Health
