Responsibilities of the Engineer, Performance Engineering
include but are not limited to:
+ Develops and maintains data in automated systems, such asFlight Planning System and Aircraft Weight and Balance System.
+ Provides support to Delta Air Lines weight & balanceprogram.
+ Track aircraft modifications and evaluate impact onaircraft weight and balance to relevant project/program stakeholders.
+ Support additional Performance Engineering related tasksas needed.
+ Develops an understanding of both FAA regulations andinternal Delta policies, procedures, and processes which deliver consistent,high quality technical, strategic, and operational support meeting allregulatory requirements.
+ Provides engineering support in interactions with diverseoperational and commercial disciplines including Flight Control, Load Control,Flight Ops, and IT related to aircraft weight and balance and flight planningsupport in addition to providing operational data, support, and solutions.
+ Plans and conducts work requiring solid engineeringjudgment and the ability to independently evaluate, select, adapt, and modifytechniques, procedures, and criteria.
+ Anticipates problems requiring resolution and devises newprocesses and methodologies to deploy.
+ Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operationalprocesses and procedures.
+ Participation in cross-divisional and industry wideworking groups (manufacturers, regulators, and associations).
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
+ Knowledge and expertise gained from relevant previousprofessional experience.
+ Strong computer skills and demonstrated proficiency withMS Office programs.
+ Able to handle multiple tasks, projects, and reportingfunctions, work collaboratively, think systemically, and meet requireddeadlines.
+ Able to read and interpret technical drawings and othertechnical information, as well as effectively generate detailed engineeringdocuments.
+ Effective manager of your work with strong analytic,technical writing, and verbal communications skills and a professionalappearance.
+ (If transferring internally) Must be performingsatisfactorily in present position.
+ Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self,others, and personal data.
+ Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
+ Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high schoolequivalency.
+ Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to workin the United States.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
+ Bachelor’s degree inEngineering (Aeronautical/Aerospace/Mechanical strongly preferred).
+ Familiaritywith airline flight operations and support systems, FAR 91 and 121 dispatchregulations, data analysis tools and methods.
+ Fortran/VB/Pythonprogramming is desirable.
