Position Overview:
The Senior Psychologist is responsible for delivering comprehensive psychological evaluations and diagnostic assessments across the Specialized Treatment Programs. This includes conducting all required psychological testing, developing integrated clinical formulations, and ensuring that every youth receives an accurate, timely, and clinically meaningful evaluation that guides placement, treatment planning, and service needs. The division currently includes an OCFS-licensed Diagnostic Program (males and females ages 12–18), the OMH-licensed Rapid Intervention Center (males and females ages 5–17), and a Hard-to-Place Residential Cottage (males ages 6–12). Within these programs, the Senior Psychologist plays a central role in the diagnostic process, including conducting clinical interviews, record reviews, behavioral observations, standardized testing, risk assessments, and the creation of detailed integrative psychological reports. The Senior Psychologist coordinates treatment team meetings and as assigned, may provide adjunct clinical services, such as individual, group, or family therapy. The senior psychologist shows dedication and willingness to work alongside the Integrated Treatment Model (ITM) team, supporting and carrying out the functions of the model to best serve the population. The senior psychologist is expected to have a nonjudgmental approach that focuses on skill building and basic principles of behavior modification (reinforcement, extinction, blocking and shaping). The senior psychologist is required to function as part of a team, committing to modeling pro social behavior and building positive relationships with all residents.
Position Qualifications:
A minimum of two years’ experience as a licensed psychologist. Experience can be outside of NY State, but a current NY State Psychology License required. Prior experience working with children aged 5-12 years old preferred.
