Position: Substitute Bus Driver Location: Newton Community School District Bus Driver Salary Schedule for 2025-2026

+ Hourly Route Substitute Base Pay: $32.72

+ Routes are approximately 3 hours per day.

+ Hourly Activity Trip/Field Trip Pay: $20.55

+ Additional hours available year round for activity trips and extracurricular activities.

*School Day Routes (Monday - Friday)*CDL training provided*Hired applicants must be able to pass both the DCI criminal history background check and the prework physical requirements.Qualifications:

+ Valid and/or eligible to hold a CDL drivers license to operate a school bus as required by State Law with passenger “P” and airbrake endorsements.

+ Driver must have a good driving record.

+ Driver must comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and obtain/sustain US DOT Medical Examiners Certificate

+ Hired applicants must be able to pass the DCI background check and prework physical requirements.

Performance Responsibilities:

+ Be responsible for passengers safety, welfare, discipline, and protection.

+ Report any problems or unusual occurrences to the Transportation Supervisor.

+ Adhere to all federal, state, local, and school district regulations, including random drug/alcohol testing.
