Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Associate CFO reports to and works closely with the CFO and key Company leaders to create budgets and other financial reports to ensure successful financial management. Ensures effective and compliant use of financial and accounting systems to assure proper recording of transactions and financial integrity of the Company. Accurately prepares various financial reports for internal and external distribution. Supervises the Corporate Accounting Department. This position may require some travel to contract sites. Specific responsibilities include:
+ Provide oversight of accounting activities, including tax filing, monthly and year-end account reconciliations, census filings, accounting, quarter and year-end processing and third-party reporting.
+ Lead the Company’s accounting month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely account reconciliations, prepare/proof consolidated period closing reports and submission of required reports. Point of contact for the annual audit of the Company, ESOP, and Employee Benefit Plans.
+ Provide to CFO monthly or as needed, managerial finance/accounting and ad hoc reports, such as required Federal reports and inquiries from outside interests, i.e., banks, government, auditors, etc.
+ Prepare and submit the Indirect Cost Rate Proposal to the cognizant agency.
+ Develop and maintain annual Company Operating Budgets, including required updates to reflect current business trends and needs.
+ In collaboration with the CFO develop and implement accounting/finance policies and procedures that result in process accuracy, timeliness, effectiveness and efficiency.
+ Develop internal controls to maintain strong accounting and asset integrity.
+ Assist and provide analysis of current policies and procedures required to manage and control financial activities for both Corporate and Contract sites, including implementation of effective integrated computer accounting, payroll, purchasing and other required systems.
+ Responsible for direct management and oversight of the Company’s integrated computerized accounting system (Acumatica) activities; includes financial reports, using the Accounting System and third-party report writer. Provide training to accounting staff on use of financial system modules and report writer. Prepare detailed, step by step desk guides for accounting staff reference.
+ Ensure effective coordination and integration of off-site Finance, Purchasing and Human Resource activities.
+ Perform support and back-up functions for the CFO in preparation for opportunity to promote.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and minimum of 7 years of institutional accounting experience required. Minimum of 5 years management/supervisory experience required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with active license required. Analytically adept, computer literate with excellent spreadsheet proficiency to include pivot tables. Experience with computer-based accounting, payroll and HR software programs preferred.
Preference will be given for candidates with any of the following qualifications or experience:
+ Master’s Degree in Accounting or related discipline,
+ Certified Management Accountant (CMA),
+ Job Cost or Fund Accounting experience,
+ Government Contracting experience,
+ Administration of self-funded Employee Benefit Plans (including ESOPs).
