    Job Title: Welding Quality Inspector

    Job Description

    As a Welding Quality Inspector, you will perform visual inspections of welds on structural frames, piping, and components to ensure compliance with applicable codes. You will verify work-in-progress against engineering drawings and specifications, conduct dimensional checks, and confirm proper fit-up prior to welding.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform visual inspections of welds on structural frames, piping, and components to ensure compliance with AWS D1.1 or other applicable codes.

    + Verify work-in-progress against engineering drawings and specifications.

    + Conduct dimensional checks and confirm proper fit-up prior to welding.

    + Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as magnetic particle or dye penetrant testing when required.

    + Complete and maintain accurate inspection reports, weld maps, and quality documentation.

    + Audit welding processes and ensure adherence to approved procedures.

    + Enforce company procedures, specifications, and safety requirements during welding operations.

    + Monitor welder qualifications and assist with certification renewals.

    + Ensure proper handling and storage of welding consumables.

    + Provide timely feedback to production teams on non-conforming welds or deviations.

    + Collaborate with engineering and project management to resolve quality issues.

    + Occasionally travel to subcontractor facilities for offsite inspections.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in MIG welding and blueprint reading.

    + High school diploma or equivalent.

    + Minimum 2–3 years of experience in welding inspection or fabrication quality control.

    + Familiarity with AWS or similar welding codes and standards.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.

    + Proficiency in using precision measurement tools and inspection equipment.

    + Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Technical training in welding or quality control preferred.

    + NDT Level II certification (VT, MT, PT) preferred but not required.

    Work Environment

     

    Work in a large open factory/plant floor with dim lighting due to the welding stations. The facility is equipped with large overhead cranes and each welding station is spacious to accommodate post-welding grinding. The building is well-ventilated to ensure a comfortable working environment.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of LAKE CRYSTAL, MN.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
