    Job Title: Quality Assurance Inspector

    Job Description

    The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for inspecting parts that have been punched out of machines, ensuring they meet specifications and are free of burs. The role involves verifying that parts match the print, determining the worth of repairing or scrapping defective parts, and preparing parts for shipping by boxing and palletizing them.

    Responsibilities

    + Assist the Quality Manager in reducing and eliminating internal and external rejects.

    + Work within the guidelines of the current quality system.

    + Organize, maintain, and document all product dimensional checks and approvals.

    + Assist production in measuring, maintaining, and documenting the quality of products.

    + Assist with customer requests for First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).

    + Help production staff complete In Process Inspection Forms.

    + Conduct random audits of production to ensure completion of inspection forms.

    + Utilize measuring equipment such as Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Vision Systems, FARO arms, CMM, and Pin/Radius Gauges for inspections.

    + Maintain In Process Inspection Requirements for production.

    + Maintain and update Material Certification paperwork.

    + Inspect and approve incoming products/materials from outside services.

    + Read and understand various customer blueprints and tolerance ranges.

    + Identify critical dimensional checks and approve parts from one operation to the next.

    + Work with production to reduce internal and external rejections.

    + Maintain quality dimensional checks at required operations.

    + Generate inspection approval forms.

    + Measure and maintain quality documents and request production holds if needed.

    + Build effective working relationships with production staff.

    + Maintain Quality Certifications and Inspections.

    + Assist the Quality Manager in resolving open Corrective Action Reports.

    + Provide continuous updates to the Quality Manager as required.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in quality assurance and control processes.

    + Experience with CMM, Vision Systems, and FARO arms.

    + Ability to check parts that have been stamped out using measuring tools.

    + Understanding of quality standards, ISO, and corrective action evaluation.

    + Experience in quality inspection roles, preferably in the metal fabricating industry.

    + Ability to interact effectively with customers, management, and co-workers.

    + Experience with measuring equipment such as Calipers, Height Gauges, GD&T, CMM (PC Dmis), Vision System (Micro-vu), and FARO arm Gauge.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + One to five years of experience in a quality inspection role or similar.

    + College Degree or on-the-job experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality is preferred.

    + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

    + Proficiency in reading and writing in English.

    + Ability to work independently and stay on task.

    + Understanding of work orders and following prints to verify parts.

    This role is primarily office-based with occasional exposure to a production environment. Safety is paramount; steel-toed shoes and safety glasses are required. Expect exposure to moderately loud equipment and the need for protective footwear throughout the plant.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MANKATO, MN.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $24.04 - $31.25/hr.
