Description We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Norfolk, Virginia. This position requires extensive experience in accounting and auditing functions, with a focus on reconciliation, financial analysis, and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring expertise and precision to ensure the successful completion of complex projects within a university setting.

Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed account reconciliations and support audit processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Manage procurement and purchasing activities, including Pcard and travel transactions.

• Conduct budget reviews and variance analyses to monitor financial performance.

• Develop process mapping and documentation for improved operational efficiency.

• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end closing procedures.

• Maintain and update general ledger records to reflect accurate financial data.

• Execute bank reconciliations to verify account balances and transactions.

• Utilize Microsoft Excel for advanced financial modeling and reporting tasks.

• Collaborate with teams to ensure audit readiness and adherence to financial standards. Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.

• Proficiency in month-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.

• Strong knowledge of general ledger maintenance and financial reporting.

• Expertise in account and bank reconciliations.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

• Experience working with Banner or similar financial systems.

• Excellent analytical and organizational abilities.

• Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines.
