Summary: Provide non-clinical, peer-based activities that engage, educate and support an individual in their recovery from substance use. This position is part of SMOC Behavioral Health’s services.

Primary Responsibilities:
+ Provide individual and group support to referred and self-referred individuals.
+ Run groups at residential programs for SMOC.
+ Maintain consistent communication with recoverees in-person or via text, email, phone, or video utilizing agency provided equipment for billing contacts.
+ Conduct a recovery coach intake and establish and regularly update a recovery wellness plan every 90 days for individualized needs.
+ Make 1 contact note every 21 days for billing metrics per individual.
+ Acquire pre-authorizations for case load.
+ Maintain a consistent caseload to generate revenue for SMOC Behavioral Health.
+ Enter forms into virtual gateway for BSAS/DPH for compliance.
+ Attend and participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and business as needed.
+ Networking in the community to build a case load.
+ Meet with individuals out in the community to establish new clients and a case load.
+ Create and maintain accurate recoveree files and records, complete required ongoing paperwork.
+ Maintain confidentiality of recoveree, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
+ Must have lived experience with substance use and be in recovery.
+ Sensitivity to experiences of members of diverse backgrounds.
+ Able to manage tasks and work independently.
+ Must have at least a High School Diploma for billing metrics
+ Must be able to complete Recovery Coach Academy Training upon hire
+ Valid MA driver’s license, reliable access to transportation, and the ability to transport people using agency vehicles and meet insurance standards.
Organizational Relationship: Reports directly to Director of Outpatient Substance Use Services.
Physical Requirement: Ability to drive. Ability to ascend and descend stairs. This is a hybrid position.
Working Conditions: This position may be located in a residence which may not be handicapped accessible. Some travel with recoverees is required. As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Recovery Coach will have direct or incidental contact with recoverees served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.
Remote Work Option: Remote work is permissible in some positions at SMOC depending on the key functions and responsibilities. The Peer Recovery Coach position is eligible to work from home 0-40% of the week in scheduling coordination with the department manager.
