Brooklyn Center Community Schools is seeking a skilled,Senior Accountant to join our team.

Job Summary: Under limited supervision of the finance director, directly performs complex and highly accurate fiscal analysis, reconciliations, and postings. This role involves preparing or assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports. Responsible for auditing revenue and expenditure records to ensure strict compliance with GAAP, Federal and State laws, regulations (including UFARS), and related job requirements. Essential Functions:
+ Perform reconciliation functions pertaining to cash and investments, general ledger accounts, payables, receivables, accrued liabilities and other balance sheet items, along with various revenue and expenditure items and accounts.
+ Perform a variety of financial record keeping functions related to Districts, accounting and budget control operations.
+ Prepare fiscal, financial and narrative statements and reports in a clear and concise manner.
+ Review, audit and verify financial statements and related summaries and reports, including computer prepared management output reports.
+ Perform a variety of financial record keeping functions related to District's accounting and budget control operations.
+ Maintain journals, ledgers, and other accounting records.
+ Maintain a system that ensures compliance to track and report programs and grants revenue and expenditures.
+ Manage and oversee all State, Local & Federal Grants.
+ Accounts Receivable: Work with grant managers to ensure draw-downs are done accurately and timely, manage SERVS reporting and draw-down system and reconcile with year-end UFARS data, prepare all invoices related to grants and other miscellaneous receivables, record all revenue according to UFARS requirements.
+ Prepare for the district’s annual audit and work with external audit firm to ensure accurate year-end financial data and reports.
+ Prepare long and short-term debt schedules and enter into the AP module to make debt payments.
+ Assist with managing and preparing documents related to LTFM, construction bonds, Truth-in-Taxation, levy certification and investments.
+ Assist and advise the Finance Director.
+ Other duties as apparent or assigned.

+ Uses standard office equipment such as personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, telephone.
+ Uses calculating devices.
Qualifications:Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, with course work in business, math, accounting, bookkeeping and recordkeeping.
+ Successful bookkeeping or accounting experience, generally a minimum of two years.
Pay and Benefits: $70,000- $87,000 based on education and experienceDuty Days: 260/year round, 8 hours a day, includes 12 paid holidays Why Choose BCCS?
