Position Description
This is a full-time Civil Service position with the Nashville Public Library. This Circulation Supervisor supervises and performs clerical duties involved in day-to-day operations of a circulation department in a public library division or branch. Performs related work as required.

Typical Duties
+ Directs operation of circulation functions according to established procedures.
+ Assigns tasks and staff throughout the circulation department. monitors clerical staff throughout the circulation department.
+ Evaluates employee performance and offers coaching when needed
+ Provides counsel to and trains staff at cluster branches as needed.
+ Interviews, trains, supervises and evaluates circulation personnel.
+ Prepares and monitors work schedules for circulation staff.
+ Performs various clerical duties involved in circulating library materials including the use of an integrated library system, online public access catalog, shelving, shelf reading, and other collection work as assigned.
+ Supervises and delegates tasks to staff in various clerical duties involved in circulating library materials.
+ Assists the public in person, by telephone and email and adheres to Library Customer Service Guidelines.
+ Assists staff members with library programs and participates in system-wide committees as assigned.
+ Serves as Person-in-Charge as directed in the absence of the designated supervisor.
+ Attends meetings and participates on system-wide committees as assigned.
+ Completes independent and project-based work upon assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
High School and three (3) years of experience with library circulation desk in an automated environment.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Supervisory experience with scheduling, training, leading and evaluating employees
+ Knowledge of Library procedures & policies, circulation functions of the Library, library systems, and shelving standards
+ Proficient with Microsoft products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
+ Bilingual Language Skills
