    Job Description

    Quality Assurance Technician Lead

    Position Overview:

    Assist in the direction of the quality assurance program for the plant. Performs duties relating to inspection, laboratory testing, statistical process control and salvage operations. Implement, maintain, and modify as directed the company/plant quality management system to improve business operating systems and meet the requirements of customer and best practice audits. Lead/assist with the corrective action of quality related problems at the plant and/or customer location and start-up of new products/processes. Assist in troubleshooting technical problems. Develop and maintain audit documentation and maintain effective quality systems.

    Essential Responsibilities and** **Duties:

    + To exhibit teamwork skills and actively participate in team activities in a positive working environment.

    + Demonstrates tactical problem-solving skills in a work environment that is striving for continuous improvement.

    + Conducts inspections of in-process materials and in-process finished products to meet customer specifications.

    + Prepare, review, and evaluate data and information. Develop recommendations for use by plant management. Conduct routine report outs as defined by plant need.

    + Utilize quality techniques to reduce process variations or refine process parameters based upon results.

    + Assist in problem solving through use of statistical analysis and utilization of quality tools. Lead and promote problem-solving teams to perform root cause analysis and failure investigations. Assist in tracking and trending of corrective and preventative actions to ensure items are closed out on a timely basis.

    + Alert management of potential quality problems to ensure that defective products or raw materials are not used or shipped to the customer.

    + Highlight training needs within the facility and act as a trained trainer for relevant instruction needs.

    + Interface regularly with managers, supervisors, and engineers.

    + Assist in the development of standard operating procedures, work instructions, and form control documents.

    + Demonstrates organizational ability to complete daily assignments as required to meet internal and external customer requirements in a concise, detailed manner.

    + Assist with customer complaint investigations and vendor incident notifications.

    + Maintain food safety and compliance documentation. Responsible for the upkeep of records and documents that correspond to regulatory, customer, and third-party audit requirements.

    + Perform containments; evaluate quality, visit customers and vendors as needed.

    + Use measuring gauges and test equipment to ensure the product is within specification.

    + Performs other related duties as directed by the plant manager or the quality manager

    Level of Authority:

    + Those employees with authorized training have the oversight to shut down / stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee’s health and safety.

    + Stop production for unacceptable quality.

    + Quarantine out-of-specification products, materials, or supplies.

    + Contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working conditions, or job environment.

    Qualifications:

    + High school diploma or GED.

    + Previous quality assurance or manufacturing work experience in the plastics industry is preferred.

    + Possess a high level of attention to detail and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

    + Ability to apply standard evaluation, selections, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard production techniques, procedures, and criteria.

    + Effectivecommunicationskills

    + Ability to use charts and graphs utilizing math skills and SPC.

    + Ability to effectively instruct and train other employees.

    + Must be able to handle sensitive, related, and proprietary information confidentially.
