Position: General School Nurse (RN)
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 2025–2026 School Year
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Pay Rate: $55/hour
About the Role
A Collaborative is seeking a General School Nurse to join our team and work in conjunction with the Nurse Leader. This position provides skilled nursing care and health management for students enrolled in there programs, primarily in Elementary and Transition Programs.
Responsibilities
+ Promote and maintain optimal physical and emotional health of students.
+ Provide emergency care and first aid for injuries and sudden illnesses.
+ Maintain accurate health records and ensure confidentiality of student medical information.
+ Review medical records and develop individualized healthcare plans under the guidance of the Nurse Leader.
+ Communicate with parents regarding illnesses, accidents, and complete required documentation.
+ Administer medications and treatments per prescriber orders, which may include:
+ G-tube feedings
+ Blood glucose checks
+ Suctioning and positioning
+ Assess and evaluate student health needs and family history as necessary.
+ Inform teachers and staff about medical issues that may impact students.
+ Counsel students, parents, and school personnel on health concerns and preventive measures.
+ Ensure immunization compliance and follow up as needed.
+ Record and report student absences to the Nurse Leader.
+ Educate students on health and safety best practices.
+ Attend all required nursing professional development sessions.
Qualifications
+ Current DESE School Nurse Certification required.
+ Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
+ Experience in school nursing or pediatric care preferred.
+ Strong communication and organizational skills.
+ Ability to provide skilled care in a dynamic educational environment.

Minimum Requirements:
+ Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
+ Bachelor's Degree, preferred
+ School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract
+ One year of school nursing, public health or pediatric experience, preferred
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
