    Position: Reading Specialist

     

    Start Date: ASAP

     

    Duration: Remainder of the School Year

     

    Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM

     

    Pay Rate: $55–$60/hour

    About the Role

    A Collaborative in Natick is seeking a Reading Specialist to provide direct reading instruction to students and instructional coaching for teachers across all programs. Our collaborative serves students with moderate to severe needs, including autism spectrum disorders, emotional/behavioral challenges, cognitive and intellectual disabilities, language disorders, ADHD/ADD, and nonverbal learning disabilities.

    Responsibilities

    + Design and deliver high-quality reading instruction to students with mild to moderate reading disabilities.

    + Administer and interpret standardized and informal reading assessments to identify student needs.

    + Provide explicit, evidence-based reading interventions tailored to individual student goals.

    + Use assessment data to monitor progress and develop IEP goals.

    + Attend and actively participate in IEP Team Meetings (annual, initial, re-evaluation, interim).

    + Collaborate with special education staff and multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive service delivery.

    + Support inclusive practices by modeling best strategies and providing resources to staff.

    + Incorporate instructional and assistive technology as needed.

    + Maintain ongoing communication with parents and colleagues.

    + Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.

    + Participate in professional development aligned with ACCEPT’s mission and student needs.

    + Maintain professionalism in attendance, punctuality, communication, and conduct.

    Qualifications

    + Orton-Gillingham (OG) certification or Special Education Teacher with OG training required.

    + Strong knowledge of evidence-based reading interventions.

    + Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.

    + Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

    Minimum Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred

    + Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations

    + Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred

    + State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred

    + State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred

    + State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred

    + Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

    + Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

    + Current CPR if applicable

    + TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

    + Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

    + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

    + Must be at least 18 years of age
