    ### Job Duties

    This is a co teaching position. Opening and closing shifts alternate with co teacher, and Friday shifts alternate weekly. Email [email protected] for more information or to apply.

     

    1. Treats each child and family with dignity, respect, and affection.

    2. Prepares a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing, and permits the children to grow and explore.

    3. Works in cooperation with co teacher in planning and implementing a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of both the individual and the group, through developmentally appropriate practice.

    4. Creates a quality classroom learning environment with co teacher that meets regulatory requirements. Developing learning environments will require additional weekend or evening hours 3 times a year.

    5. Prepares and posts weekly curricula with co teacher.

    6. Interacts with children and encourages their involvement in group activities.

    7. Gears the program to the needs of the individual child, with concern for their interests, special needs, talents, and individual learning style and pace.

    8. Supervises class outings.

    9. Observes, records, and reports significant individual and group behaviors or illnesses, and keeps coworkers and the Director informed.

    10. Understands and appropriately implements the duties of a mandated child maltreatment reporter.

    11. Keeps accurate records of children's attendance.

    12. Works with co teacher to continually evaluate each child's progress, and communicates these professional observations to the appropriate teammates and the child's parents through participation in formal conferences offered at least three times a year.

    13. Completes intake meetings with new and transitioning families.

    14. Establishes and maintains strong and positive communication with parents through daily verbal contact, as well as through written notes, email, and phone conservations, when appropriate. Sensitive issues should be discussed with the Teachers and CCCC Administrators before approaching parents. Maintains confidentiality.

    15. Actively supervises by sight and sound. Ensures the safety and well-being of the children at all times, both indoors and outdoors. Is alert to the needs and problems of the children as individuals and as a group.

    16. Knows the number of children that are in the group and where they are at all times. Never leaves a child or group of children unattended.

    17. Supervises, assists, and participates in all daily routines

    a. Arrival - warmly greets each child and caregiver, helps involve them in the day's activities.

    b. Meals - serves, sits, and eats with the children, while facilitating a pleasant mealtime atmosphere with the group.

    c. Dressing - assists children and instructs them in self-help techniques.

    d. Nap Time - maintains a restful atmosphere, assists them in falling asleep, provides a soothing presence.

    e. Prepares and leads Activities

    f. Toileting - supervises bathrooms, changes diapers, assists in dressing, wiping, changing, hand washing, etc.

    g. Music and Group Times - sings, dances, responds, and participates with the children.

    h. Outdoors - brings appropriate outdoor gear and interacts with and supervises the children while outdoors.

    i. Transitions - follows the appropriate transition activity while supervising the movement of all children.

    j. Clean-Up - teaches and encourages children during clean-up time by actively working beside them, demonstrating how to pick up and where to place items.

    k. Departure - says good-bye to each child and caregiver, letting them know you are looking forward to their return.

    18. Manages supervision of staff in order to coordinate all program activities and communication with the Director, Assistant Director and Education Coordinator.

    19. Serves as a knowledgeable resource for other staff.

    20. Works with the Teachers to continually train and supervise the activities of Assistants, Child Care Workers, substitutes, and new coworkers assigned to the group, helping them relate to and supervise the children.

    21. Models appropriate positive behavior guidance techniques and trains other staff so that guidance is consistent.

    22. Works together with all program staff to solve problems, achieve goals, and respectfully communicate needs.

    23. Shares responsibilities for the general maintenance and cleanliness of entire building and grounds to meet regulatory standards and under the direction and supervision of the CCCC Administrators.

    24. Shares opening and closing responsibilities with the Teachers.

    25. Completes special duties or assignments, some during office time, as assigned by the Director.

    26. Attend family and center events, like potlucks, family fun nights, field trips. Requires additional evening or weekend hours 1 or 2 times a semester.

    27. Serves in the Director's absence to ensure smoother operations of the Center in conjunction with co-Teachers, Education Coordinator and Assistant Director.

    28. Assists in evacuation of the building in an emergency, and responds immediately to any emergency situations.

    29. Complies with all applicable universal precautions and infection control guidelines and procedures.

    30. Understands and abides by licensing and accreditation regulations and all program policies and procedures.

    31. Attends professional workshop and staff meetings, participates in in-service training as required by Licensing, Head Start, and NAEYC.

    32. Arrives in the classroom on time, ready to interact positively with all children, parents, and staff.

    ### Minimum Education Required

    Must meet Rule 3 licensing requirements for Teacher regarding educational and previous work experience. High school diploma or GED - Bachelor's Degree in education or a related field is preferred
