Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Student Success provides leadership and oversight for graduate student success initiatives at Utica University. This position is responsible for managing all Success Coaching operations for graduate students, including onboarding of new students, course registration, academic alerts, retention, and degree completion. The Assistant Director serves as a Success Coach for graduate students, offering support to promote academic achievement and persistence. Additionally, this role supervises Success Coaches who support graduate students, ensuring high-quality, consistent service delivery and alignment with the University’s student success objectives. The Assistant Director also supports the broader Office of Student Success by assisting with office operations, student support services, and helping all students, both graduate and undergraduate, navigate academic policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities
+ Provide leadership and oversight for Success Coaching operations, supporting graduate students through proactive outreach, student engagement, and retention initiatives.
+ Manage a caseload of graduate and non-matriculated graduate students, providing comprehensive support from admission through graduation.
+ Supervise Success Coaches serving graduate students.
+ Collaborate across campus to strengthen student success programs and initiatives, including orientation, course registration, and persistence efforts for graduate students.
+ Support the implementation and effective utilization of student success technologies (e.g., EAB Navigate) through training, reporting, and data-informed decision making.
+ Conduct organized, ongoing, and systematic assessment of the office’s mission and goals, with special emphasis on student performance goals.
+ Document and report assessment findings and additional evidence of departmental/divisional effectiveness annually, and in program review, completed every 5 years.
+ Collaborate closely with faculty and Academic Deans to identify and address barriers to student success, align coaching strategies with academic program goals, and support student retention and completion initiatives for graduate students.
+ Assist the Office of Student Success with office operations, student support, and help all students, undergraduate and graduate, understand and navigate academic policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Student Success.

Education & Experience Qualifications
+ Master’s Degree Required
+ Minimum of two years of experience in higher education administration or student affairs, or equivalent experience in a similar setting
+ Supervisory experience preferred.
Minimum Skills/Abilities
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft products, such as Teams.
+ Preferred knowledge of EAB Navigate, Banner, and Argos.
+ Must be knowledgeable and up-to-date on current trends and strategies in student retention and persistence in higher education.
+ High consideration will be given to those who have teaching experience or prior experience in student success.
