MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Fleet Parts Associate supports the Fleet Management Section by managing parts inventory, coordinating with vendors, and performing clerical and administrative tasks. This role also assists technicians and supports the logistics of vehicles and equipment as needed. #oj
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
+ At least 18 years of age.
+ Must be able to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
+ U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card.
+ Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
+ No illegal drug usage within the past year. Other drug usage will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
+ High school diploma or general education degree (GED) AND one (1) year professional experience includes the following: customer service, inventory, sales or related experience/training.
+ Must have valid Florida driver’s license.
+ Must attend and successfully complete the agency sponsored Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations (LEVO) Training if assignment includes driving agency vehicle. Use of agency vehicle would require appropriate driving history and passing agency biennial driver’s physical exam.
+ Must be able to obtain a Forklift certification within twelve (12) months of employment.
+ Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memorandums.
+ Ability to write basic correspondence.
+ Ability to present information to agency employees.
+ Must have basic computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
+ Must have basic knowledge of geographical area, auto and truck parts manuals, and experience working with auto parts.
+ Must have a basic knowledge of parts and accessories needed by automotive mechanics and emergency vehicles.
Customer Service & Communication:
+ Ability to respond to staff inquiries regarding parts requests.
+ Ability to provide updates on parts availability and compatibility to support fleet operations.
Parts Receiving & Processing:
+ Ability to receive, inspect, and verify incoming parts shipments for accuracy, quantity, and condition.
+ Ability to update inventory records in the fleet management system.
+ Ability to process part returns and warranty claim(s) with vendors as necessary.
Inventory Management:
+ Ability to track, locate and issue parts and update work orders as required.
+ Ability to monitor inventory levels, establish parts levels, and initiate purchase orders for replenishment.
+ Ability to maintain a list of ordered parts (including special orders) and verify and confirm tracking.
+ Ability to assist with scheduled inventory counts (i.e. weekly, monthly or annually) as needed.
+ Ability to maintain accurate records of inventory, pricing, and documentation.
Vendor Coordination:
+ Ability to research and order requested parts from approved vendors or vendor websites.
+ Ability to document and communicate parts availability, identifying alternative sources as needed to verify timely completion of transactions.
+ Ability to coordinate and retrieve parts from vendors as required to support operations.
Support for Technicians and Fleet Operations:
+ Ability to use fleet management software to notify technicians of parts availability, including special orders, and assist with vehicle or equipment pickups and deliveries.
Clerical and Administrative Duties:
+ Ability to perform clerical duties, including typing, filing, and maintaining reports on parts usage, inventory, and work activity
Safety and Workplace Organization:
+ Ability to maintain a safe, organized parts storage area and follow all safety protocols when handling heavy, hazardous, or sensitive items.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and occasionally to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is typically very loud. Depending on assignment, the employee may be required to work evening, midnight, and/or weekend shifts. Shift times may vary based on operational needs.
